The Bathurst Light Car Club was formed in 1953. The objectives were simply to run events where people with a fascination for cars could compete against themselves and each other to improve their driving skills. All Club events are conducted under the auspices of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS). The club holds a general meeting on the last Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in their clubrooms at the top of Conrod Straight. Visitors and new members are welcome. Events conducted by the club include:
Motorkhanas: The object of a motorkhana is to test the acceleration, braking and general manoeuvrability of a vehicle and the skill and judgement of the crew members. The courses are short and the speed low with stopping and reversing tests. Currently our events are conducted on an unsealed surface. This is vital training for young members.
Khanacross: Khanacrosses are an expanded Motorkhana the tracks being longer with no reversing and limited stopping, but still at relatively low speed.
