BATHURST MOTOR FESTIVAL

Five Bathurst Light Car Club members have entered the 2012 Bathurst Motor Festival to be conducted over the Easter Long Weekend.David Pennells, better known as a builder responsible for a good many of the new buildings in lower George Street, will exchange his tape measure for a Porsche 944 Turbo and drive in the Porsche Club NSW Drivers event for the first time at Mt Panorama. David’s car is lightly modified still allowing it to run under production sports car rules. He ran the car in this form at the recent Sandown 6 Hour with three fellow Porsche drivers.In the Group N historic touring cars Bathurst Light Car Club member Bob Munday will be driving his Ford Mustang and will clash with fellow club member, Orange’s Greg Schwenke, in his Mazda RX 2. The two drivers will compete against a twenty seven strong field of Nc and Nb historic touring cars.The NSW Road Racing Drivers event will have hillclimb specialist Martin McLoughlin in his Holden Torana clashing with Tony King in a Mazda MX5, they are in a field of sixty two cars from the latest high-tech machines to old school Datsun 120Y’s and Ford Capri’s.
